[ P E R S O N A L I T Y ] Varian's base personality is a bit unsettling; it wouldn't be much of a far stretch to call her creepy. She's much like a blank canvas - plain, empty, unchanging. This side of Varian only comes out when she's on her own, when she's not interacting with anyone. To catch a glimpse of it, you'd have to observe her without her noticing your presence. In this state, she seems almost innocent. A terrifying kind of innocent, but still innocent.
Talking to Varian, however, is another ordeal. It's a odd experience in that she will mimic your posture, body language, the way you talk... every part of who you are that she can. It's only momentary; as long as you talk to her, she'll copy. The moment you stop interacting, however, is when Varian's act drops and she returns to a shell of a Kintaur. Varian's copycat method of life assists in her main "career", thieving and street con work. By mimicing another individuals actions, Varian can typically throw them off enough without them noticing to snatch a wallet or purse. What everyone else doesn't know, however, is that Varian's fear of herself is what causes her to copy. Her compulsive thieving comes from her position in the Coyote Company; this ragtag army enlisted her as a street goon long ago, and ever since then, she's been considered part of their lowest rank. However, although she may be officially considered part of a gang, Varian sees herself as more of an independent party. The alliance with the Coyote Company simply allows her to navigate the streets without issue, as CC members typically are the most commonly found. Varian takes nothing at face value, and can often be seen counting on her fingers. When she isn't copying, she can seemingly never sit still. The more mannerisms of someone else she can copy, the more in place she stays. Things change when she's without someone to copy, though; Varian constantly moves between sitting, standing, pacing, shifting in place, the works. |
