[ P E R S O N A L I T Y ] Bayard wants nothing more than to make things right. After his arm was hit multiple times during a massive drug smuggling operation the PD had tracked down, it was rendered unusable and soon after amputated. The department made this event seem like much more than it was; Bayard, they remarked to the press had lost his arm by shielding another officer from the line of bullets. In truth? Bayard had been shielding a supply of drugs that would later be important case evidence. The supposed officer he had saved? He was in a room across the warehouse, safe and sound.
But the public never found out the truth, and Bayard was left feeling like he had something to prove about himself. Ever since then, he's worked harder at his job than ever, desperately trying to live up to his title of hero. Even at the end of a long day when he's done his very best, he still feels like he's accomplished nothing. Never will he truly feel deserving of the title of hero, not even after his police uniform grows so full of badges that it clings when he walks. Because to Bayard, hero ship will come the day he dies, probably. |
